U.S. A. S. A. Snowboarding Nationals

Mammoth Lakes, CA 2002

In March 2002, over 1200 snowboarders descended on Mammoth Ski Area for the U. S.'s largest Snowboarding competition.  I was honored to be a part of this great event this year.  It was my first competition, and I was a bit nervous, but it was an awesome experience! Scott Anfang, my coach and friend from Steamboat Springs, Colorado came to Mammoth with me.  Together, as a team, we rode Mammoth, a great ski area, and won gold in Boarderx and Half Pipe.

I put a medal on Scott, since he deserved the win as much as I did.  He rode the Pipe and the Boarderx course totally switch.  That takes talent.

Thanks must be given to Heelside for my snowboard and Oakley for some cool shades.  The West Coast sun was blazing there at Mammoth.

Thanks also to Riley and the Steamboat Skiing Company for providing a car for Scott and I to make the long drive from Steamboat to Mammoth.  It was great having a dependable vehicle for the long trip.  Thank you also for your support in this endeavor and in my future goals as a blind snowboarder and outdoor enthusyist.
